santa monica promenade street performer john clinebell

John Clinebell thoroughly enjoys performing out on Santa Monica's famous 3rd Street Promenade. Playing a diverse mix of new and polished original songs, along with a handful of great covers, John's street show brings out the best in his dynamic vocal style, strong guitar playing, and fun crowd-bantering skills.

Many of the new songs that Clinebell plays on the Promenade are from his soon-to-be-released second album which has not been titled yet. Some of the crowd favorites from it so far are "Hold Onto The Railing," "No Cause Left," and "Back To Me." The biggest hit seems to be a short punk rock song called "Half The Story." It's the kind of song that makes people stop in their tracks and turn their head around!

Many other original tunes are featured from John Clinebell's debut release from 2006 called "Stomping Grounds." 3rd Street Promenade passers-by definitely slow down their pace to a stop when they hear hard charging "Hard Love," happy-go-lucky "Bailey," or the tear-inducing ballad "The End" (which you can find a video for on John's Myspace Page). It's this great diversity of John's sets that cause people to find the nearest curb or park bench!

Although John Clinebell takes pride in the fact that the large majority of the songs he performs are his own, he still digs playing some of those familiar songs we've come to love, putting his own personal touch on each cover. The covers John's playing in Santa Monica these days include The Cure's "Friday I'm In Love," Coldplay's "In My Place," The Killers' "Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine," and Simon & Garfunkel's "Song For The Asking." This pop mix goes over very well, and is tastefully blended into Clinebell's street performing sets.
